Good inspiration...but what step do you take first?
Sep 1 2007, 11:38 PM EDT I appreciate Jake's business story...but how do we make it easier for small businesses to take teh first step? Where do you start...your company name, your brand identity, trademarking or making sure your product has a patent? Do you use a lawyer...or use the internet to LLC your company. It would be great to get more details here to small businesses that want more than just the marketing side of business start up. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Good inspiration...but what step do you take first?
Sep 5 2007, 12:47 AM EDT Hi Tara: I agree that providing some Business 101 information and resources here could be very helpful to small business owners. While I pull together a broader article, have you thought about contacting the following Small Business Advocates to get started: Small Business Administration: http://www.sba.gov The SBA offers loads of info on how to start, how to check your business name for trademark, how to write a business plan, funding options, and much more. The SBA also offers chat rooms and forums to meet with experience business owners and advisors. Score (Service Core of Retired Executives) http://www.score.org This nonprofit organization is affiliated with the SBA; their volunteers help entrepneurs with all facets of business startup and ownership. Legal Zoom http://www.legalzoom.com An affordable option for entrepreneurs to create a legal business entity (Inc., vs. LLC, Partnership, or more) LogoWorks by HP (http://www.logoworks.com LogoWorks by HP is a viable option for any size business to create a business identity: from a simple logo to a complete package of logo, brand, letterhead, websites, content and more. I hope that helps! Do you find this valuable? |
