“We've spent a lot of our marketing energy creating a strong online presence. Now we're ready to develop the print side. One idea we're taken with is using "bike-in-progress" postcards that show customers their bikes being built.”

Meet Sweetpea

What do you get when you cross a former bicycle messenger and architecture student? Natalie Ramsland, co-founder and master welder of Sweetpea Bicycles.

Sweetpea Bicycles - v2 - Tag Team Web 1.9“I had been in architecture school. I knew I loved design but I kept finding that no matter what I designed things related to bicycles. And eventually I just gave in. I decided to join my loves and build bike frames for women.”

That was about two years ago. Now Sweetpea Bicycles has an eight- month waiting list, as women bicyclists embrace the idea that a bike built just for them is the perfect vehicle.

But with growth comes growing pains, and Sweetpea is now at the point of needing a cohesive brand identity and print materials to help tell their story and strengthen customer relationships.

“When building a bike, I’m out here in the shop, and my customer is eagerly awaiting news. Well, how nice would it be to receive a postcard that shows, Hey, this is my bike in the welding stand. Here’s my bike getting aligned. So those are the things that I’d like to be able to touch my customers with.”

Over the next few weeks, watch Natalie get started on creating the communications materials her company needs to thrive.

I love the shots of the bike as it's being build - maybe even create a photo album using something like blurb.com so they get a little book with their bike - great coffee table piece that stimulates referral conversation without a trek to the garage.
