Buy from the Channel or Buy Direct? HP Lets the Customer Decide

Anneliese Olson
November 27, 2007

HP gives small business customers options of where and how to buy their products, solutions and services- and we've been doing it for a long time. We have a large network of channel partners who service you. We also have our own direct selling motions to buy direct from HP, whether it be from our website, our call center or our direct sales reps. We get questions from you, our customers and channel partners, about HP’s go-to-market strategy and whether we are trying to prioritize one selling motion over another. I figured it was time to tackle the conversation directly ...

Do you care about the environment? HP does.

Anneliese Olson
October 15, 2007

At HP, we spend a lot of time and human resources on improving the environment. HP is a large company that sells products and supports customers in many countries around the world. Beginning in the 1950s, Global Citizenship became a core company objective. In the 1980s, HP began electronics recycling. In the early 1990s, HP formalized its efforts to design with the environment in mind.

Well, I just got back from my worldwide tour looking for HP LaserJet printers…ok, no- that isn’t quite right. I was actually on vacation. Like you, I need a break from my day-to-day business. Just Want My Printer to Work

Anneliese Olson
July 13, 2007

I have a number of friends who own their own businesses…even my husband is a business owner (he is a partner in a commercial real estate company). His company uses tons of paper in all shapes and sizes- lots of legal documents, faxes, presentations, and blueprints. Printing plays a huge role in what he does on a day-to-day basis but, ultimately, he doesn’t spend much time thinking about it. He just wants things to work…

Always on Printing

Anneliese Olson
July 5, 2007

I mentioned that I had done market research at HP. Learning about our customers is critical to many of us inside HP in a number of ways. We need to know if we are making products that will meet your needs. We need to know if you value the features we design. We need to assure ourselves that products will work the way we’ve promised. We need to understand what you would spend for that product or service and how you would like to purchase it, get supported from HP, and what you think about your relationship with us…

What Happened to the Paperless Office?

Anneliese Olson
June 28, 2007

I used to manage the market research group here at HP. We spent a lot of time and money designing research projects and buying 3rd party research to assess and determine market trends. Fifteen years ago, we did not have Microsoft Outlook or other tools to move documents around easily. We’d print out a survey, fax it to our vendor with our edits, and go back and forth like this throughout the edit process.
I’d have to take huge file folders with me around the world to look at documents in hardcopy format so I could do revision control. The process consisted of faxing a document or sending a disc to each other, both of which were very time consuming. I had always hoped that I would be able to carry around less paper…

SMBs Unlocking the Power of Print with HP's Print 2.0

Anneliese Olson
June 19, 2007

Why do you print? In my experience, people ultimately use printers not because of the devices themselves, but because of the pages that come out of the printers. You create content, you print content, you distribute content, and you consume content all as part of your daily business operations…
