Wow! Web 2.0 has really changed how I think about things … seeing what opportunities are being created by it is exciting, whether they are new ways of conducting business or new ways to promote an idea or business. Everyone is learning this new world as they go; at HP, we are learning too.

I’ve found in talking to many small business customers that they got into their business because of something they have passion about, something they have expertise in, or something that they find fun. Most people do not go into business to learn how to do invoicing or to figure out the best shipping methods. Did you go into business already having your marketing plan figured out? If so, kudos to you; however, many of the small business owners I know barely have time to get all their work done, let alone figure out how to market themselves.

The hard thing about Web 2.0 is that you have to learn another area in order to stay up to date with your customers; the good thing about it is that Web 2.0 provides a platform for saving money, expediting processes and reaching out and touching customers in new ways. Reaching customers in new ways is what Marketing 2.0 is all about (here is a good link that explains and compares Marketing 1.0 vs. Marketing 2.0).

Marketing 2.0 is a new way to think about marketing by letting the web work for you. I’m excited to share with you a recent conversation I had with Kathy Stromberg, HP’s Vice President of Marketing in the US. This summer, we launched our first Web 2.0 marketing campaign at HP! She shares her insights as to what HP’s Print 2.0 strategy is about and why small businesses need to be thinking about Marketing 2.0. She also talks about what HP is doing to form a better relationship and dialogue with customers (this blog and Wiki are a way of having that dialogue with you too).

Have a listen and let us know what you think.
