Case Study: Sweetpea Bicycles

Build a story for your business
Case Study - Sweetpea BicyclesMost successful small businesses survive and thrive because customers embrace the vision of the owner. But when you're not personally available to share the gospel of your business, who or what will convert listeners into clients?

Your brand is – or should be – as unique as you are. Your “story” is often the reason customers decide to spend money with you. How can you differentiate your business from the competition? Start building your story -- one that will resonate with and convert customers.

We'll walk you through the steps you'll need to take and the questions you should ask and answer by sharing Sweetpea Bicycyles' experience. And don't be shy: You can ask questions in this Community-- of HP, of Sweetpea, and of other members -- and share your ideas, expertise, and experience here, too. Get started by becoming familiar with Sweetpea's story below.

Sweetpea Bicycles: The story to date

What do you get when you cross a former bicycle messenger and architecture student? Natalie Ramsland, co-founder and master welder of Sweetpea Bicycles.

Sweetpea Bicycles“I had been in architecture school. I knew I loved design but I kept finding that no matter what I designed things related to bicycles. And eventually I just gave in. I decided to join my loves and build bike frames for women.”

That was about 2 years ago. With husband Austin, Natalie has grown Sweetpea Bicycles into a budding small business with an 8- month waiting list as women bicyclists embrace the idea that a bike built just for them is the perfect vehicle.

But with growth comes growing pains, and Sweetpea is now at the point of needing a cohesive brand identity and print materials to help tell their story and strengthen customer relationships.

HP and Sweetpea Bicycles invite you to join their Branding Bootcamp and share your opinions and tips as we build their branding identity. Get started with the following:

» Review their current printed marketing materials below.
» Browse the HP Marketing Resources (listed below) that Sweetpea will use during their Branding Bootcamp.

Sweetpea Bicycles answers questions about their story, their customers and their brand.

"When building a bike, I’m out here in the shop, and my customer is eagerly awaiting news. Well, how nice would it be to receive a postcard that shows, 'Hey, this is my bike in the welding stand.' I want my customer to have a little piece of Sweetpea in their hand while they're waiting."
