A Few Things to Check Out on HP Environmental Sustainability
Anneliese Olson
October 31, 2007
This month has been a real learning experience for me with respect to “being green.” I’ve learned a lot about the environment, including what I should eat, how to conserve, and what green products I should buy. I was intrigued by an article I read in Working Mother magazine (which was actually their November issue but I received it in mid-October).
Another big change for me this month was that I started buying organic whenever it makes sense to do so in my life. There are health benefits for me and my family, but there is also the angle of buying organic locally. Not only is it fresh, but the fact that the food doesn’t have to travel far was not something I had thought about. I also pledged to use my own water bottles versus buying cases of water.
I also learned more about HP’s “green” initiatives and our Sustainability objectives. We have won some kudos in 2007 that I did not know about:
- Fortune Magazine named HP as one of the “10 Green Giants”
- HP Made the Global 100 list as one of the most Sustainable Corporations in the World
On October 15th, several people around HP were blogging about the environment. Here is a link to one post: Blog Action Day – To really be green, it takes a lot of work and investments.
What things do you think about when it comes to the environment? Did you learn new things in the month of October with respect to being green? As a business owner, what do you consider your role to be when it comes to the environment?
