Hi!

I am a fourteen year employee of HP. I am proud to help produce the HP SMB Community Printing blog with Anneliese as "our " SMB voice and through our team collective! For the last 5 years in our imaging and printing business, I have had the pleasure of working with people I really like and being creative and myself in every position at HP.

I am joining this SMB Printing experience and community to be a leader and great listener to small businesses who really want to understand how printing can make their business more connected to their key customers, how we can with better marketing/demand creation ideas for your business and how we can listen, faster, to what you need to grow your business profitably. I may also share more personal things about me outside of printing!...That's the PLUS part of my name!

I have a passion for SMB's, since my life partner, Dave, and many of our friends are starting, accelerating and/or growing their small businesses through networking, idea exchange and better decision making. We believe that small businesses have 3 areas that they always struggle with: financing, marketing and everything about "online." I am here to help you grasp some of those problems and make them more of an opportunity.

Finally, I have experience with selling and marketing through partners/channels. If your business requires that strategy or your thinking about it, please let me know how I can help!

I was assembling a presentation my boss will give this week to our partner community. These are the businesses that help you make decisions on what technology and how to service small/medium company's IT needs.

The presentation focused on helping the partner companies be focused on smart things they can do to weather the recession and be ready for better economic times.

One of the best pieces of advice is to spend more on advertising/marketing of your brand. In tough times, most companies cut back on this level of spend; smart companies will figure out how to gain share and drive more valuable connections, messages and customer acquisition strategies.

Keep this one top of mind when the right opportunities to connect and interconnect your business present themselves.

I received a message today from someone looking for money inside this wiki as a random request. I found strange and humorous. What has the internet evolved to?

OK...whoever invents the 1st universal password with ultimate security for online experiences...really wins. I would be delighted if it was someone inside our own SMB wiki community here for HP. I am just noticing it has been well over a month before I finally came back...after several times trying to reset my password and remember my log in name. UGH. I am so pleased with our new site, its new content direction, its aggregated contributors and of course, new members who keep joining. Tell us what you need via Angela or Kate (or Anneliese and myself). Thanks for being an HP customer!

I read an article in Pink Magazine online (a new women's business magazine) about Kiva.org's co-founder, Jessica Flannery. As a small non-profit (like small business) she was inspired by Nobel Prize Winner who spoke at a her University to start Kiva. They have raised $23 million online to date and given 250,000 micro loans to businesses in over 40 countries. 2/3 of Kiva's borrowers are women! This kind of smart, inspirational business is something we should all learn from.

I am the daughter of a Kennedy Democrat. In memory of My Dad, James F. Agen, I need to post this very moving op-ed piece by Caroline Kennedy.

As a small business owner, recognize the importance of you as a business of the U.S. and a citizen. At HP, the founders, Bill and Dave, were very vocal about changing the world through their political, community and environmental involvement.
